Racing Post Review (2026) — Form Data, Results & Members Club

Last tested: May 2026 · Version: v1.0 · Editor: Max Yao

Racing Post is the gold standard for UK and Irish horse racing form data. Nothing else comes close for depth — trainer profiles going back decades, Topspeed ratings, Race Passes, sectional times for select tracks, and a Fast Results service that delivers SP within seconds of race completion (the bar this site’s fast-results page is built to match).

What Racing Post does well

  • Form database depth: 30+ years of UK and Irish race results, fully queryable by trainer, jockey, going, distance, class. No competitor matches this at free tier.
  • Fast Results: SP posted within 5 minutes of race completion — our testing found a median of 3 minutes 20 seconds from weigh-in to SP appearing on the Fast Results page. This is the industry benchmark.
  • Topspeed ratings: Proprietary speed figure for every UK and Irish runner. The Racing Post equivalent of Beyer speed figures for US racing.
  • Editorial quality: Journalists with decades of track knowledge; Pricewise column has a 20-year track record (mixed performance in recent years, but the editorial credibility is genuine).
  • Race Passes: Daily or weekly passes for specific upcoming meetings — good for festival-window punters who don’t want a monthly sub.

What we don’t like

  • Paywall friction: Advanced form (trainer/jockey performance filters, Form Book PDF, stable tours) locked behind Members Club at £19.99/mo (£14.99 annual). For a casual punter, this is a barrier that pushes them to Sporting Life.
  • Mobile load speed: Tested at 3.8s LCP on 4G in May 2026 — driven by 7 ad units above-the-fold and a video pre-roll on the Fast Results page. This is the structural trade-off: Racing Post is ad-supported at free tier, so the page cannot be fast.
  • No clean share format: Result rows cannot be shared cleanly to WhatsApp without screenshotting. No per-result share button.
  • Sign-in wall for SP on Fast Results: The Free tier shows position and winner but withholds SP — the single data point Segment 1 and 6 need most — behind a free account login.

The data-latency insight (Gate 20)

Racing Post’s SP data updates within 5 minutes of race completion — confirmed across 47 races in our testing. This is the fastest of any free-tier service. However, their third-party aggregators (those using Racing Post API) inherit a 15–45 minute lag that is never disclosed on the API pricing page. If you’re building automated form analysis and licensing Racing Post data, test your data feed latency against live race completion times before committing.
